GROUP SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT (GSE)
WHAT IS GROUP SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT?
As a service provider to individuals with developmental disabilities, Achieve strives to work with participants on assessing and developing their work skills and providing an opportunity to work in a gainful, productive and remunerative work environment. The intent of our program is to provide adults with developmental disabilities with support and assist them in developing skills, abilities, and behaviors that will enable them to attain the outlined goals relating to their vocational assessment.
Group Supported Employment (GSE) is a service that provides participants the opportunity to work in an environment that allows for maximum interaction in the community and among various businesses, with job coaching support. The service assists participants in developing skills, abilities and behaviors that will enable them to most fully realize their vocational aspirations and support their transition into a more independent employment setting if they desire, and helps participants maintain positive work related habits, as well as assists participants to become a part of the workforce. This service is provided at a 1:2 ratio.
Achieve utilizes a base line curriculum tool, BoardMaker, to initiate classes and vocational, certification trainings. Prior to any compensated or volunteer work, participants are assessed by a job coach/supervisor:
